Cetylcide-G is a specially denatured glutaraldehyde-based formula. When diluted as directed, the resulting mixture is a 3.2% glutaraldehyde sterilizing/disinfecting solution that works based on a variety of contact times rather than a variety of concentrations. Working at room temperature, it kills:

• Mycobacterium tuberculosis in 40 minutes
  
• Bacterial spores (full sterilization) in 10 hours

Once prepared, the solution can be reused continuously for up to 28 days as both a disinfectant and a sterilant. At the end of that time, it can be safely disposed by pouring it down the drain. The solution can be made with ordinary tap water and will not rust or corrode instruments.

The product is packaged in a unit dose squeeze bottle that accurately measures the appropriate amount of concentrate. The squeeze bottle eliminates the need for separate measuring cups and lessens the potential for hand contact. Even if the bottle tips over with the cap removed, the remaining concentrate will not spill.
