Angiomax (bivalirudin) is a thrombin-specific anticoagulant that has been approved for marketing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is indicated for use as an anticoagulant in patients with unstable angina undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). The anticoagulant is intended for use with aspirin.
The product will be available in 250mg vials for intravenous injection. It is contraindicated in patients with active major bleeding or hypersensitivity to the anticoagulant or its components.
